The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

In this exhilarating new adaptation of Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize–winning novel, set shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, two Jewish cousins invent an anti-fascist superhero and launch their own comic-book series, hoping to recruit America into the fight against Nazism. The score moves seamlessly moves seamlessly among three worlds: Nazi-occupied Prague, the bustling streets of New York City, and the technicolor realm of comic-book fantasy. Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts a new Bartlett Sher production featuring a new generation of Met stars, including baritone Andrzej Filończyk as the artist Joe Kavalier, who flees Czechoslovakia and arrives at the Brooklyn doorstep of writer Sam Clay, sung by tenor Miles Mykkanen.

Men are slaughtering each other on the battlefield, but it is two women who possess the deadliest weapon of all: Intelligence, made more powerful by its invisibility. Madison Symphony Orchestra
Earth: A Choral Symphony

A world premiere work in celebration of Madison Symphony’s 100th Anniversary, Earth: A Choral Symphony will celebrate our planet and humanity’s place on it. Composed in four movements, the piece explores themes of truth and possibility, with each movement touching on a different aspect of the wonder of Earth and our place in its story. John DeMain and the Madison Symphony Orchestra, soprano Ailyn Pérez, and three choruses will weave together elements of this dramatic new work.
